LeiLanni Nesbeth made her first start for the Chicago Red Stars in their 2-1 win away to Bay FC in the National Women’s Soccer League [NWSL] on Sunday [May 5].

Nesbeth was rewarded for scoring her first goal for Chicago in a 4-2 defeat at home to Washington Spirit last week with a starting berth against Bay FC.

The 22-year-old played the entire match, with her team’s goals coming from Penelope Hocking on the half-hour mark and Allison Schlegel in the 63rd minute.

Theresa Bode netted the opening goal of the game for Bay FC.

Nesbeth, a Bermuda women’s national team midfielder, was selected in the tenth round by Chicago in the NWSL Draft in January.

Chicago, fifth in the table with 13 points from eight matches, are at home to Utah Royals on Sunday [May 12].
