Khano Smith’s Rhode Island FC picked up a point in a 2-2 draw at home to in-form Sacramento FC in the USL Championship yesterday [May 11].

Stephen Turnbull handed the home side the lead with a powerful strike in the 31st minute before Trevor Amann levelled for Sacramento in the 38th minute with a close-range finish.

Karifa Yao restored Rhode Island’s lead in the 42nd minute, heading home from close range, but Sacramento equalised in the 93rd minute when Jonathan Ricketts poked the ball into the net.

Smith, a former Bermuda and New England Revolution winger, was appointed as head coach and general manager of Rhode Island in March last year.

His side, who are ninth in the table with nine points from nine games, are away to Colorado Springs Switchbacks on Saturday [May 18].
