Bermuda Defeats Jamaica In Davis Cup Action
The Americas Group III of the Davis Cup moved into day four of the tournament in Paraguay, with Bermuda picking up a major win over Jamaica.
In the opening match, Daniel Phillips defeated John Chin in three sets. Phillips won the first set 6-.1 and the second set saw Chin win 6-0. It came down to a third set tie-breaker, with Phillips holding his own to win the set 6-4 and give Bermuda a 1 – 0 lead.
Jamaica leveled the match at 1 – 1 when Blaise Bicknell defeated Tariq Simons in straight sets 6-2, 6-0.
Bermuda then sent Trey Mallory and Phillips out to take on Bicknell and Chin in the doubles, with the Bermuda pair picking up the win to clinch the match 6-4, 6-2.
