The 2024 Convex End-to-End awarded a total of $240,000 to Bermuda charities during an awards ceremony at the Hamilton Princess.

A spokesperson said, “The grants awarded this year saw the total donations provided to Bermuda charities since the event began in 1988 surpass the $7 million mark. The grants are made possible thanks to the fundraising efforts of participants and the event’s generous sponsors.

“Action on Alzheimer’s and Dementia Bermuda, The Coalition for the Protection of Children, Raleigh Bermuda, Transformational Living Centre, and WindReach all received grants. Additional donations were given to St. John’s Ambulance and the Skills Development Programme.

“The End-to-End also honoured retiring Board Chair Anne Mello with an award in her name. The inaugural recipient of the Anne Mello Award was Transitional Community Services, which received $20,000. Additionally, Bermuda High School received the Deloitte School Award worth $15,000, as this year’s school with the most participants in the Convex End-to-End.”

Paul Simons, CEO, Convex Bermuda, said, “It’s always a pleasure to be a part of the Convex End-to-End. It’s an exceptional day that brings Bermuda together. Experiencing the community spirit at our water stop this year, all I could think was, who wouldn’t want to be a part of this great event? My congratulations go out to the team here at Convex for all they did to win the Team Spirt Award as well as all the other award winners. The End-to-End directly aligns with our values at Convex, and being a part of this event further demonstrates the extent of its positive impact on the charities supported, as well as the broader Bermuda community.”

Anne Mello, chair of the End-to-End, will be retiring this year after joining the board in 1993. Ms. Mello said, “As I reflect on the incredible success of the 2024 event, I am filled with immense pride and gratitude. This year’s event surpassed all our expectations, showcasing the dedication, enthusiasm, and community spirit that defines us. It has been incredible to witness the growth and evolution of the End-to-End over the years, and it has been a truly rewarding journey. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this extraordinary experience.”

“This year we were able to donate $240,000 to local charities that are working to address the pressing needs of our Bermuda community, thanks to the great fundraising efforts of our participants and the contributions of our sponsors. We would also like to add a special mention and huge thank you to our title sponsor Convex and platinum sponsors Butterfield and Deloitte, who provide incredible support each year and truly make the End-to-End possible.

“I am excited for the future of the event and all the possibilities under the leadership of the incoming Board Chair Christen Styche, who brings so many skills and new energy to the End-to-End.”

Christen Styche thanked the outgoing chair for her enormous impact on the event, saying, “Anne has grown the End-to-End into the Best of Bermuda award-winning event that it is today. Her legacy is interwoven into the fabric of the End-to-End, and her contributions will not soon be forgotten.”
