Samuel Brangman Jr Appointed To CPU Post
Samuel Brangman Jr. has been appointed as the Secretary General of the Caribbean Postal Union [CPU] effective July 1.
A Government spokesperson said, “The Cabinet Office is pleased to advise that the Government of Bermuda’s Postmaster General, Mr. Samuel Brangman Jr. has been appointed as the Secretary General of the Caribbean Postal Union, effective July 1, 2024.
“Mr. Brangman was formally elected during the 26th CPU Conference held in the Cayman Islands recently.
“In this new role, Mr. Brangman will serve as the Secretary to the Caribbean Council of Ministers of Postal Affairs, the Conference, and the Management Board.
“He will propose and recommend actions, plans, and initiatives to the Management Board; provide technical assistance to CPU members; and represent the Union at meetings conferences and negotiations.
“Additionally, he will present the draft annual budget of the Union to the Management Board for submission to the Conference and be responsible for the effective management of the Secretariat.”
Minister for the Cabinet Office Vance Campbell said, “On behalf of the Cabinet Office, I extend heartfelt congratulations to Sam on his appointment as the Secretary General of the Caribbean Postal Union. Mr. Brangman’s appointment is an excellent example of the talent and expertise within the public service being recognised at a global level.
“As the newly appointed Secretary General, Mr. Brangman’s wealth of experience and proven track record in postal services and organizational leadership will be invaluable to the CPU. He is well-prepared to make significant contributions to the enhancement of postal services across the member states.”
The spokesperson said, “PMG Brangman holds a master’s degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management and is both a UPU Postal Security and Disaster Risk Management [DRM] expert.”
