“An assessment night will be held tomorrow [June 27], from 6.30pm to 8.30pm, when candidates can sign up for the next recruit camp, which is planned for July 7 to 19,” the Royal Bermuda Regiment said.

A spokesperson said, “Residents are encouraged to attend Warwick Camp this week as the Royal Bermuda Regiment aims to swell its ranks with a fresh intake of soldiers.

“An assessment night will be held tomorrow [Thursday, June 27], from 6.30pm to 8.30pm, when candidates can sign up for the next recruit camp, which is planned for July 7 to 19.

“Enlistment is open to anyone aged from 18 to 52 who can legally reside in Bermuda.

“Attendees of the assessment night will be invited to undergo a brief physical check by the regiment’s doctor and to take part in a personal fitness test. They will also be asked a few questions in a short interview.”

“Our Regiment welcomes and encourages participation by people from all walks of life, whether you’re a recent high school graduate or have years of life and professional experience under your belt.

“We pride ourselves on being a dynamic and evolving organisation where members can thrive and make connections with people they might not otherwise have the opportunity to meet.

“The RBR offers a training and working environment that is challenging and rewarding. It can provide support for continuing education in both personal and service-focused disciplines, while it also fosters the development of skills related to leadership, teamwork and resource management, among others.”

“RBR troops are often most visible performing ceremonial duties during parades or in the aftermath of a major storm, when they play a key role in clean-up operations.

“However, opportunities in the regiment are vast and varied. They include clerical duties and logistics work as well as roles in the RBR Coast Guard, medics section and Regimental Police.

“Drills and exercises are typically held on evenings and weekends, and flexibility is offered where necessary.”

“Come along tomorrow, learn more about what we offer, and bring your sports attire. As our members will tell you, there is so much to gain from joining the regiment; what have you got to lose?”
