Andre Lambe On Future Boxing Plans

Boxer Andre Lambe said he is ready to step up to eight-round contests as he pursues overseas opportunities on fight cards shown on streaming platforms.
Lambe improved his professional record to 11 straight victories after defeating American Kenny Paklos [3-1-1] via a unanimous decision at The Shed in Dockyard last Saturday.
The southpaw prepared for the six-round welterweight bout by training in Orlando, Florida, under the watchful eye of Johnny Estella, whose son Jeovanny [14-0-0] has fought on the DAZN sports streaming platform.
Estella joined long-time trainer Vero Pelon Andrade in Lambe’s corner for his fight against Paklos.
“Johnny Estella has good connections with DAZN, and we’re working on getting me on a platform like that,” Lambe told Bernews. “That’s the next step for my career.”
Lambe, who will vacate his American Boxing Organisation [ABO] welterweight title, a six-round belt, said he hopes to fight on home soil in August before exploring his overseas options.
“I expect to challenge for the eight-round ABO belt at some point,” said Lambe, who has fought twice overseas in Orlando and Cleveland.
“I don’t want to take a break. I want to fight again in August in Bermuda. It will take a bit longer to organise another overseas fight.
“There’s a lot of red tape involved because I’m a foreign fighter.”
Lambe said his preparations for Paklos were less than perfect after admitting he was not in the best condition when he started his training camp after six months of inactivity.
“I’d taken a break after my win [against Mexican Sergio García] in October [last year], and then my fight against Paklos got postponed in March,” Lambe said.
“I couldn’t stay consistent with my training and put on a lot of weight. I’d got up 178 pounds, which wasn’t good for my health.
“My training was thrown off, which contributed to my weight gain. There were a lot of things stressing me out.
“That’s when I decided to go away to train. Once I got into camp, it was a crash course in doing everything at once – losing weight, sparring, learning the game plan.”
Lambe added: “I intend to return to Orlando for training before my next fight. I’ll be in much better condition next time; I won’t take my foot off the gas.”
