Karting driver Scott Barnes enjoyed a “double podium” weekend in the Skusa Pro Tour Spring Nationals at the Motorsports Country Club of Cincinnati in Ohio at the weekend.
The Bermudian, who competes in the Shifter Masters class, entered rounds three and four of the series leading the standings after a successful Winter Nationals in Florida in March.
He improved his title hopes after finishing third in the pre-final and second in the final on Saturday before coming tenth in the pre-final and third in the final yesterday.
He also earned ten bonus points for the fastest lap in the final on Saturday.
“Leaving Ohio happy but a little disappointed,” Barnes wrote on Facebook.
“Any double podium weekend at the Skusa Pro Tour is a good weekend but wish we would have had a strong pre-final Sunday race to start us up front in the final.
“[It] was a decent points weekend, and we’ll go to New Castle next month ready to throw down for a Championship fight.”
Barnes, who races for Maranello Kart USA, added: “I can’t thank this team enough for all their support and believing in me!”
The SummerNationals, rounds five and six, will be held at New Castle Motorsports Park in Indiana from July 26 to 28.
Barnes is sponsored by Butterfield & Vallis, representing their Powerade brand.
