Traffic Advisory: Revel De Road & J’Ouvert A.M.

The Ministry of Public Works issued a traffic advisory in advance of the Revel De Road Carnival and J’Ouvert A.M. procession on Monday, June 17th.

Revel De Road Carnival procession

A Government spokesperson said, “The Ministry of Public Works wishes to inform motorists that the Revel De Road Carnival procession will occur on Monday, 17 June 2024, from 12:00 pm to 9:00 pm. This event will require multiple rolling road closures at the times listed below.

Routes:

Lap 1 – 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm

  • “The procession commences at Dutton Avenue and proceeds along Palmetto Road.
  • “The procession halts on North Shore Road next to the Palmetto Park.

Lap 2 – 3:40 pm to 7:00 pm

  • “The procession traverses North Shore Road, heads West towards Blackwatch Pass and turns left onto Marsh Folly Road.
  • “They turn left onto Cedar Avenue, then turn left onto Angle Street.
  • “They use the first exit at the roundabout to traverse North Street before turning left onto Dutton Avenue and ending at Bernards Park.

Traffic Control: Residents in these areas are encouraged to follow the instructions of the Police and Traffic Marshals, who will allow access, as necessary. Residents are asked to avoid driving along the parade route while participants are on it. Motorists are advised to use caution and avoid the route area.

Parking: Parking will not be permitted on Dutton Avenue from 12:00 pm on Sunday, 16 June 2024, to 10:00 pm on Monday, June 17th, 2024.”

J’Ouvert A.M. procession

“The Ministry of Public Works wishes to inform motorists that the J’ouvert A.M. [JAM] Procession will occur on Monday, June 17, 2024. This event will require multiple road closures commencing on Sunday, June 16, 2024. The main event will occur at the Bernards Park from 3:00 am to 9:00 am with a procession from 8:00 am to 9:00 am.

Route: The procession commences at Dutton Avenue with participants turning left onto Marsh Folly Road. They turn left onto Cedar Avenue, then turn left onto Angle Street. They use the first exit at the roundabout to traverse North Street before turning left onto Dutton Avenue and proceeding to the end point.

Traffic Control: Residents in these areas are encouraged to follow the instructions from the Police and Traffic Marshals who will allow access, as necessary. Residents are asked to avoid driving along the parade route while participants are on the route. Motorists are advised to use caution and avoid the route area.

Road Closures: The following roads will be closed as a result of the procession:

  • “Dutton Avenue will be closed from 9:00 pm on Sunday, June 16″, 2024, until 1:00 pm on Monday, June 17″, 2024.
  • “There will be rolling road closures on Monday, June 17“, 2024, between 8:00 am and 9:00 am on Marsh Folly Road, Cedar Avenue, Angle Street and North Street.

Parking: Parking will not be permitted on Dutton Avenue from 12:00 pm on Sunday, June 16″, 2024, to 10:00 pm on Monday, June 17%, 2024.

“The Ministry of Public Works wishes to encourage the full cooperation of the motoring public and apologises for any inconvenience that may result. Should there be any questions regarding this event, please direct queries to the attention of the event representative, Keidric Smith at 331-6008.

“In addition, the Bermuda police are hereby authorised to “Close off” streets or portions of streets and authorise parking as the Commissioner of Police decides.”
