Oliver Betschart concluded competing at the R&A Junior Open in Scotland, placing 15th.

A spokesperson said, “The third and final round of The R&A Junior Open was played at the par 72 Kilmarnock [Barassie] Links Course. Oliver Betschart opened with a solid par before a double bogey on the tricky second. He had a fantastic bounce back birdie on the third hole. His front nine scorecard contained four pars, one birdies, three bogeys, a double bogey offset with a single birdie going out in four over par score of 41. The 37 back nine score gave him a final round score of 78. He finished with a 54-hole total of 228 good enough to finish in a tie for 15th position.”

The teenage golfer said, “Once again today, I felt I played solid, yet found myself myself in a bit of trouble and on two holes which resulted in two double bogeys. Through the course of the week, I left a few shots on the course for sure, yet I enjoyed the challenge of playing links style conditions, as it presents differently from playing golf at home in Bermuda. I have had alot of fun this week, met some wonderful people and made new friendships. I am especially grateful to the R&A, The Bermuda Golf Association and The Bermuda Olympic Association for their support and providing me this opportunity.”

Bermuda Golf Association President Craig Brown said, “The R&A Junior Open is a marquee junior event and comprises of elite junior golfers from around the world. Two years ago Oliver played in this event as a 13 year old, and finished in a tie for 59th position. It is a positive for Oliver to come this year and finish in a tie for 15th. It clearly shows his game continues to develop going forward.”
