Oliver Betschart Competes In R&A Junior Open
Oliver Betschart is competing in the 2024 R&A Junior Open in Scotland.
A spokesperson said, “The 2024 R&A Junior Open is being hosted at Kilmarock [Barassie] Golf Links, Barassie, Scotland. The R&A Junior Open has 116 participants competing in u-16 Boys and Girls divisions from over 70 countries. This marks the second time 15 year old Oliver Betschart has been selected as The Bermuda Golf Association Male Junior representative for The Junior Open 2024.
“Fresh off a top-5 showing last week at the Scottish Boys U-16 Championships interrupted which were played in testing Scottish conditions, Betschart’s opening round of the 2024 The Junior open was played in fine Scottish summer weather.
“Betschart shot an opening round of two over par 74 . He was a model of consistency going out with five straight pars before a bogey on the sixth interrupted his steady play. He bounced back with a birdie on the eighth before going out in his opening nine holes with a one over par 38. Betschart played well over the back nine coming in to the clubhouse with a 36 to post his overall score of 74. He is currently sits four shots off the overall leader, Aidan Lawson from Scotland, tied for eleventh place after round one.”
