Barnes Places Fourth Overall In Cincinnati
Karting driver Scott Barnes finished fourth overall in the Shifter Masters class and won the Rok class in the third round of the Stars Championship Series, the Clash at the Club, in Cincinnati, Ohio, at the weekend.
Competing at the Motorsports Country Club, Barnes came second in heat one, tenth in heat two, and fourth in the pre-final before the final race, where he narrowly missed out on a podium in the overall class.
The 39-year-old made a superb start to round one in Charlotte, North Carolina, in April, but suffered misfortune in the second round in New Castle, Indiana, last month with a mechanical issue and a team disqualification.
Barnes, who races for Maranello Kart USA, wrote on Facebook: “We were a top four kart overall all weekend, but at the end of the day didn’t get the double podium we were looking for.
“We took care of the Rok win but fell one spot short of getting the overall podium. But it was a fun weekend racing on this hard track.
“[I] can’t thank Maranello Kart USA and Carblos Racing Engines enough for their continued support and allowing me to represent their team. The motor and kart were amazing as always. I love this team!”
Barnes is sponsored by Butterfield & Vallis, representing their Powerade brand.
