DeSilva-Andrade And Hayward In Action
[Updated] Yushae DeSilva-Andrade and Omar Hayward are representing Bermuda at the Povoa de Varzim World Boccia Cup in Portugal, which starts today [July 10].
Athletes from 27 countries are participating, including many top athletes who will compete at the upcoming Paralympic Games in Paris.
DeSilva-Andrade has qualified for the Paralympics in the women’s BC1 Division.
Update: A spokesperson said, “Yushae lost 11-1 to Satanan Phromsiri (world number 3) from Thailand. Omar lost 4-2 to Jose de Oliveira (world number 8) from Brazil. Omar lost 7-4 to David Smith (world number 3) from Great Britain and Paralympic Champion from 2016/2020. Two very close matches for Omar and really pushed some quality opponents.Yushae and Omar both have another match tomorrow.”
