BEDC Calls For 2024 GEW Event Proposals

The Bermuda Economic Development Corporation [BEDC] announced the call for event proposals for Global Entrepreneurship Week [GEW] 2024.

A spokesperson said, “We invite entrepreneurs, innovators, and business leaders to join us in celebrating and empowering Bermuda’s diverse entrepreneurial community. GEW 2024 aims to spotlight entrepreneurial success and promote the growth of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises across the island.

“Global Entrepreneurship Week is a worldwide celebration of entrepreneurship that takes place every November. With events happening in over 180 countries, GEW aims to inspire people everywhere through local, national, and global activities designed to help them explore their potential as self-starters and innovators. The week encourages collaboration and networking, providing a platform for entrepreneurs to share their experiences and gain insights from others.

“BEDC celebrates GEW annually to highlight the importance of entrepreneurship in Bermuda’s economic landscape. By participating in GEW, BEDC aims to inspire and support new and existing entrepreneurs, foster a culture of innovation and creativity, provide opportunities for networking and professional growth, and showcase the successes and contributions of Bermuda’s entrepreneurial community. Through these efforts, BEDC hopes to cultivate a thriving entrepreneurial environment that drives economic growth and development on the island.

BEDC Global Entrepreneurship Week Bermuda August 2024

Seeking proposals in the following event categories:

  1. Women’s Entrepreneurship Day Celebration: An event dedicated to celebrating and uplifting women entrepreneurs through inspiring talks, networking opportunities, and interactive sessions with both international and local experts.
  2. Men’s Entrepreneurship Day Celebration: An event designed to bring together male business leaders to exchange ideas and expand their professional networks.
  3. Vendors Market: A showcase for local businesses to present their products and services to a wider audience, enhancing their exposure and boosting sales.
  4. Festival of Entrepreneurship: A grand celebration of Bermuda’s entrepreneurial spirit, featuring networking opportunities, interactions with local service providers, and a recognition of the community’s achievements.

“By partnering with members of the public and private sectors to create a memorable GEW, BEDC aims to encourage collaboration between various sectors to strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem, highlight the diverse range of entrepreneurial talent and ideas in Bermuda, provide a platform for sharing knowledge and best practices to drive business success, and empower individuals to take initiative and pursue their entrepreneurial dreams.

Submission Guidelines:

  • Format: Submit your proposals via email to jlodge@bedc.bm and kwilliams@bedc.bm.
  • Content: Include a detailed description of the event, target audience, expected outcomes, and any logistical needs.
  • Deadline for Submission: Sunday, September 1, 2024
  • BEDC Selection Date: Friday, September 6, 2024

Selection Criteria:

  • Relevance to themes of empowerment and networking.
  • Ability to engage Bermuda’s diverse business community.
  • Originality and significance of the event idea.

Event Dates and Logistics:

  • Dates: GEW will be celebrated globally from November 11-17, 2024, with events throughout November in Bermuda.
  • Support: Selected events may receive logistical support, promotional assistance, and possibly venue arrangements from BEDC.
