BELCO Restore Power After Outage In East End

[Updated] BELCO crews are currently working to restore power after an outage this evening [Aug 5].

The company said, “BELCO has advised that at approximately 10:00pm a number of East end customers lost power. Our crews have been dispatched and are currently investigating the cause of the outages with the aim of returning power to affected customers as soon as possible.

“We will update the public and media when more information becomes available. We urge all affected customers to unplug sensitive electronics and equipment.”

According to the current  outage map, in addition to the East End, there are outages in other parishes including Devonshire, Smith’s and Pembroke.

Update 11.15pm: BELCO tweeted, “We are happy to share that the outage affecting East End customers has been resolved and our crews are completing their final checks. We appreciate your patience.” In addition, their outage map has been updated to reflect a significantly lower volume of customers out.

    Completely unacceptable.

    A sign of things to come. I can hear the infrastructure crumbling now. You’d think with the increases in our bills, there would be plenty of duct tape to replace the old duct tape fixes.

  4. I’m glad to hear that the power has been restored to affected customers and BELCO is working hard to resolve the issue. It’s great to have reliable updates on the status of the outages, too.
