Ministry Commends Bermuda Pride
The Ministry of Youth, Social Development, and Seniors is commending Bermuda Pride for “their efforts in celebrating diversity, inclusion, and the fundamental human rights we all hold dear.”
A Government spokesperson said, “As Bermuda Pride hosts the 2024 Pride events, the Ministry of Youth, Social Development, and Seniors commends their efforts in celebrating diversity, inclusion, and the fundamental human rights we all hold dear.
“These rights, inherent to every individual, reflect our collective dignity, worth, and the rich diversity that defines our community. Bermuda Pride’s dedication to these principles underscores the importance of equality, access, and fairness for everyone in Bermuda.
“This year’s Pride events highlight the strength and well-being of our diverse community and families. They offer an opportunity to explore the challenges and triumphs that families face, as well as the value of emotional support, unconditional love, and the fostering of a sense of belonging and identity.”
Minister Tinee Furbert said, “As we recognize Pride, let us remember the importance of treating each other with dignity and respect. I wish everyone attending the Pride events a joyous, safe, and memorable time. Let us continue to build a community where everyone can thrive, free from discrimination, with love and acceptance at the heart of all we do.”

No. No. No! The PLP Government detests gays! It went to the Privy Council to ensure that they are kept separate from people like me (heterosexual)!
What did the oba do for the GAYS when they ruled government?? Nothing, nothing, nothing! Neither of the last 3 oba leaders supported SSM. That list includes Craig Cannonier, Jeanne Atherden and Michael Dunkley.
I remember both OBA and PLP detesting gays. The OBA just set around doing nothing which is the same thing they’re doing now. On the other hand the PLP told the voters before the election how they felt and won 30-6.
The OBA cleverly let the courts decide which was politically very shrewd but you refer to that as doing nothing . The plp actually did do something, they chose to discriminate and deny people their rights after they diddled the HR act . But you call that ‘doing something’. If , however, in your mind you think that that had anything at all to do with the plp getting re-elected then I have a bridge to sell you .
When will we have a pride day for marijuana, its far overdue!!
“When will we have a pride day for marijuana”
Feel free to organise such an event.
Funny, they say inclusion but I dont see an H included in the LGTB+ They give these groups of people a whole parade to celebrate, their own flag and platform to complain about nothing.
“Funny, they say inclusion but I dont see an H included in the LGTB+ ”
Clearly you have no concept of historical oppression.
“They gave these groups of people…”
Who did? Who is “they” that “gave” a parade and a flag?
And why does this community having a platform seem to be a problem to you?
Oh, and if you think they’re complaining about nothing, you have a complete and utter ignorance of the topic that you’re posting so proudly on.
I was a grown man when the Stubbs Bill went through.
It was only 30 years ago!
Add to that the fact that our governments, both sides, have shown that they either WANT to discriminate against them or are to cowardly to STOP discriminating… or both!, and one of them has, in fact, removed equal access to rights for absolutely no reason.
“…complain about nothing”?
Your ignorance is astounding.
Some of the most truly ignorant and frustrating conversations I’ve had with locals are the ones where the person rants on about ‘they this’ and ‘they that’ especially ones like ‘THEY took such and such a thing away from us’ but when you ask them who ‘they’ is they go ballistic and scream ‘you’re missing the point !’
We have a very serious problem with education here , no doubt about it.
There are many Bermudians who subscribe to the same form of argument that Donald Trump does. Never name your source, just say “people say” or “I’ve heard” or “they say”. As long as the source is never identified, the speaker can never be shown to be wrong.
OH NO! Not the Trump card! So beneath you. I am very disappointed.
That is your take-away from that comment, “Trump”?
No, actually, I was going to mention those were all Obama’s typical go-to speech openers but I did not want to embarrass you.
But I decided to bait you instead and you swallowed the bait, hook, line, sinker, and the boat. Soooooo predictable. Now, come back with tRump in a sentence.
