National Academy Award Recipients Announced
The Bermuda Football Association [BFA] announced the recipients of its prestigious National Academy Awards, including Jahni Simmons, Evans Welch, and Harlem Bean-Fox.
A spokesperson said, “These awards recognize outstanding young football talent and provide opportunities for players to further develop their skills through intensive personalized training.
“The Kenneth ‘Smokey’ Thompson Sponsorship Award by PartnerRe was presented to Evans Welch, who plays for the Under 17 National Girls Team.”
A PartnerRe spokesperson said, “At PartnerRe, we are honored to sponsor Evans Welch who is a young and talented football player with the Bermuda Football Association’s National Academy. This award is presented in honor of our beloved former employee, Kenneth ‘Smokey’ Thompson. Smokey was a passionate football fan, and through this sponsorship, we aim to celebrate his legacy by supporting the growth and development of young talent in Bermuda’s football community.

The spokesperson said, “The Lesley White Sponsorship Award was bestowed upon Jahni Simmons who plays for the Senior Women’s National Team.”
Lesley White said, “I would like to congratulate Jahni on being awarded the Lesley Cherry White scholarship for football, which helped her attend tryouts and training in the UK. This is a testament to her hard work, dedication, and outstanding talent on the field.
“I am incredibly proud of her achievements and excited to see how this opportunity will help her grow and excel in her football career. Wishing Jahni the best of luck on this thrilling journey, and I look forward to witnessing all the great things she will accomplish.
“The scholarship was set up to help send female football players overseas for camps and training, to give them an opportunity to be seen by overseas coaches and teams.”
The spokesperson said, “DaRock Elite Performance Sponsorship Award went to Harlem Bean-Fox who plays for the Under 17 National Boys Team.”
