Bermuda motorcycle racer Aeziah Divine has described competing at the Monster Energy Grand Prix MotoGP at the Silverstone GP Circuit last weekend as an “unforgettable experience.”

Racing in the R&G Talent Cup round four, Divine was representing the Sencat Talent Team/Mortimer Racing – Victoria House Academy for the second successive round of the Moto3 class competition.

The 14-year-old came 25th in the opening race and 20th in the second.

“My first time at a MotoGP round and it was such an awesome opportunity to be in their paddock but especially racing alongside them,” Divine wrote on Facebook.

“The sun was out for race one on Saturday afternoon. I didn’t get a good start off the line so that put me off the group for the first few minutes of the race.

“I’m still getting familiar with the clutch biting point on the new bike, but I’m working to get back to my strong starts.

“I stayed within reach of the group ahead for two laps before they broke away.

“For the rest of the race, I focused on chipping away at my times until I got just under my qualifying time from Friday.”

As for his display in race two, Divine said: “I was determined to pull things together in Sunday’s early morning race, I wanted to push to stick with the group ahead.

“I latched onto them for the first half of the race, which was exactly what I needed to feel like I could fight within that pack.

“After a few passes back and forth, I made a move stick on a rider ahead and pushed on to continue moving forward.

“I started closing the gap, matching the pace of several riders in front of me and took another three seconds off my previous best lap time from race one.

“It felt good to be back in the mix again and end the weekend with many positives to take away.”

Divine competed in the first two rounds of the R&G British Talent Cup with the Microlise Cresswell Racing team; however, the team was unable to continue this season after the sudden passing of team principal John Cresswell.
