Squash Tournament Moves Into Group Phase
Bermuda squash players continued competing in the Caribbean Area Squash Association senior championships, at Georgetown Club and the National Racquet Center in Guyana.
The tournament moved into the team phase, where Bermuda lost 5 – 0 to Guyana in their men’s division opening match.
Taylor Carrick lost to Shomari Wiltshire 11-6. 9-11, 11-2, 11-4, and then Anaya Smith went down to Daniel Ince 11-7, 11-5, 11-9.
Kion Knights lost to Jason-Ray Khalil 11-1, 11-5, 11-6, then Matthew Elliott went down to Sam Ince-Carvahal 11-6, 11-1, 11-1, and Brendon Fourie would fall 11-3, 11-3, 11-5 to Michael Alphonso.
Bermuda then bounced back and defeat Trinidad and Tobago 4 – 1 in their second match of the day. Carrick gave Bermuda the lead after defeating Seth Thong 11-7, 11-5, 11-4, Bermuda would go ahead 2 – 0 when Smith defeat Leonel Sorrillo 11-4, 11-5, 11-2.
Knights defeated Anthony Allum 16-14, 11-4, 13-11 to put Bermuda up 3 – 0, before Elliott made it 4 – 0 after defeating Nicholas Lequay 11-6, 11-7, 11-6.
Trinidad got on the board after Fourie fell to Sanjiv Mungal 11-5, 11-8, 7-11, 8-11, 11-7.
