The U.S. Consulate General to host a voter registration drive at The Washington Mall on Friday [August 9], noting that it is a “great opportunity for U.S. citizens living abroad to register and vote absentee from overseas.”

A spokesperson said, “The U.S. Consulate General invites all U.S. citizens to register to vote for the upcoming 2024 primary and general elections. This is a great opportunity for U.S. citizens living abroad to register and vote absentee from overseas.

“Join us at the Washington Mall for this event where Consulate staff will be available to assist eligible voters with the voter registration process and absentee ballot requests. Attendees can collect registration forms to return to the U.S. Consulate once complete or choose to register online through the Federal Voting Assistance Program website at FVAP.gov.

“U.S. citizens are encouraged to exercise their most basic right – the right to vote. If you have previously registered for an absentee ballot and voted in past elections, it is recommended that you complete a new registration form every year. No identification is required at the time of the event, however, please note that most states require either the last four digits of your Social Security number or a state ID number [such as a U.S. driver’s license number] to complete the voter registration application.

“U.S. citizens who are not yet 18 years old, but who will be 18 by November 5, 2024, may register to vote online or come to the voter registration event.
