‘What Became Of 150 Sea Venture Castaways’
The Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute [BUEI] announced the upcoming BUEI Talks: ‘The Aftermath: What Became of the 150 Sea Venture Castaways’ presented by Peter Barrett, Chairman of the St. George’s Foundation, on Tuesday, September 17 at 7.30pm in the Tradewinds Auditorium.
A spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute [BUEI] is excited to announce the upcoming BUEI Talks: ‘The Aftermath: What Became of the 150 Sea Venture Castaways’ presented by Peter Barrett, Chairman of the St. George’s Foundation. The lecture will take place on Tuesday, September 17th at 7:30 pm in our Tradewinds Auditorium. [Wheelchair accessible]
“During his talk, Mr. Barrett will explore the intriguing story of the Sea Venture shipwreck. His lecture will unveil the historical impact of this event on Bermuda and America, as well as exactly why 15 of the 150 survivors never left Bermuda.
“Mr. Barrett will be answering some of the most pervasive questions surrounding this event and its aftermath. While explaining the immense importance the Sea Venture in Bermuda’s history, he will also reveal how the lessons learned from settling Bermuda, ultimately saved the genesis of America itself.
“Born and raised in Bermuda, Mr. Barrett has served as the accountant for his Parish Council and many other not-for-profit organisations. This includes the St. George’s Foundation which strives to preserve Bermuda’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites through education and awareness.
