Evans Qualifies For America’s Cup E Series Final
Rockal Evans has qualified for the finals of the America’s Cup E Series, which will be held in Barcelona later this month.
Evans won this week’s qualifier after competing in over 800 races, including 300 hours of play time, in eight weeks.
The grand final kicks off in Barcelona on September 28th. The eight finalists, including Evans, will battle it out for the title of America’s Cup E-Series Champion and a slice of the over $50,000 prize pool.
Speaking about the sailing simulator used to train, Mr. Evans said, “Emirates team New Zealand created the sim game to test and develop their race yachts for the last America’s Cup, so the game is super detailed for competitive sailors.
“Reading the wind shifts in the game is similar to real life, and also the boat handling and getting the boat up to speed fast out of tacks and out of gybes and also mark roundings, you can gain meters on other boats if you do the maneuvers well.”
