Peter Silvester Bermuda September 2024The NESCAC website has featured Bermudian goalkeeper Peter Silvester, with an interview about why he chose to be a Division III student-athlete, the best thing about being part of the NESCAC, and more.

Why did you choose to be a Division III student-athlete?

Mr. Silvester said, “I chose to be a Division III student-athlete because it offered the opportunity to go to a top academic school while being able to both play at a high level and have the opportunity to compete for championships. Division III also allowed me to maintain a healthy balance between academics and athletics, giving me the chance to excel in both areas.”

What is the best thing about being part of the NESCAC?

Mr. Silvester said, “The best thing about the NESCAC is the competitive atmosphere between the NESCAC schools. It creates an exciting atmosphere before games, which you can’t help but look forward to being a part of every week. This is amplified by the tight-knit communities NESCAC schools have, where students, faculty, and alumni rally behind their teams.”

Looking back on your college years, what are you most proud of?

Mr. Silvester said, “Winning a national championship was an incredible moment of pride. It came during a time when COVID nearly canceled our season, and there was very little to look forward to besides soccer. In a period when it felt like so much was out of our control, both the team and the Connecticut College community managed to rally together and accomplish something truly special.”
