The Flower Bar Offering A ‘Unique Twist’

The new Flower Bar on Reid Street, outside the Washington Mall in Hamilton, offers a unique mix of floral-infused cocktails, wine, prosecco and flower arrangements.
Steven Faries opened the shop in July with Shane Francis, the director of operations – initially delaying the enterprise because of the Covid-19 pandemic – and will have their official ribbon-cutting event, serving alcohol for the first time, starting today [September 12] at 4.30 pm.
They also offer classes in flower arranging and mixology.
According to Mr Faries, the bar combines a modern, chic aesthetic with a unique twist: patrons can enjoy sophisticated cocktails inspired by flowers while selecting colourful hand-arranged bouquets.
“It’s more of an experience bar,” Mr Faries told Bernews. “I wanted to create a modern, upscale place where people could come, enjoy floral-inspired cocktails or mocktails, and leave with a stunning arrangement of flowers.”
The menu boasts an array of luxurious cocktails, champagnes, and wines sourced globally.
Additionally, the bar offers flowers imported from countries including France, the Netherlands, and Chile.
Customers can also order a cocktail and, within an hour, receive a custom-designed bouquet from the studio just below the bar.
“We’ve also got grab-and-go flowers in our refrigerator for those looking for something quick,” Mr Faries added.
This is not Mr Faries’ first venture into the floral industry.
He opened another flower shop, Exclusive Flowers, at 75 Reid Street several years ago. However, the original concept for a flower and cocktail bar had to be put on hold due to the pandemic.
“When we launched [Exclusive Flowers] in February 2020, just before Valentine’s Day, Covid came along and crushed the whole plan,” he said.
The Flower Bar also provides flower-arranging and cocktail-making classes tailored for groups of ten to fifteen. These sessions offer an interactive, hands-on experience, which can be booked in advance.
“We’ve added a cocktail-making element to the business,” said Mr Faries, who runs several businesses under the umbrella of Exclusive Events.
“Our mixologist [Stefan Dill] can show clients how to make a cocktail from start to finish.
“I’m talking about mixing, modelling, straining and draining it.”
The flower-arranging classes, led by experienced florists, are equally customised.
Another point of pride for the Flower Bar is its eco-conscious approach.
“The Flower Bar is almost entirely eco-friendly,” Mr Faries added. “We’re plastic-free and about 95 per cent eco-friendly and hope to reach 100 per cent.
