Antonio Pierce’s Raiders Defeat Ravens
Antonio Pierce’s Las Vegas Raiders won their first game of the National Football League [NFL] season after defeating the Baltimore Ravens 26-23 at the M&T Bank Stadium yesterday [September 15].
Pierce, the son of Bermudian Cleo Burrows, is a former linebacker for the New York Giants, who he helped win the Super Bowl in 2008.
Quarterback Gardner Minshew II was in top form for the Raiders and helped them upset the Ravens on the road.
Pierce, 45, was appointed as head coach in January and led the Raiders to a 5-4 record after replacing Josh McDaniels on an interim basis in November last year.
The Raiders, who lost 22-10 to the Los Angeles Chargers on the opening weekend of the season, face the Carolina Panthers at home on Sunday [September 22].
