The City of Hamilton will be holding the City Christmas Boat Parade on Saturday, December 7, from 6.30pm to 9 pm.

A spokesperson said: “A highlight of the holiday season, this beloved event promises an evening of festive fun for the entire family!

“The City invites the public to join us at the City’s Viewing Village and Kids Zone – both free to access and offering the best views of Hamilton Harbour.

“Attendees can enjoy an array of delicious food vendors while settling in for the parade’s main attraction: a fleet of brilliantly decorated boats, each adorned with dazzling Christmas-themed designs to light up the night.

“Spectators will have the chance to vote for their favourite entry.

“The evening will culminate in a spectacular drone show [an exciting ‘first’ for Bermuda!], filling the sky above the harbour with breath-taking lights and holiday magic.

“The evening will be hosted by the charismatic Patrina O’Connor [aka ‘Power Girl’], with festive tunes provided by DJ Chubb. It’s sure to be a night of music, lights, and holiday joy.

“Since taking over the event from the Bermuda Boat Parade Charity in 2017, the City has proudly organised this signature event.

“Boat owners are encouraged to participate in this year’s parade by registering their vessels by November 8.

“Interested participants can sign up using the Boat Parade Application Form.

“If you are interested in being a vendor for the 2024 City Christmas Boat Parade, please sign up using the Vendor Application Form.

“To avoid conflicting with the Corporation of St George’s Boat Parade, the City Christmas Boat Parade will be held every other year, ensuring both events can shine on their respective stages.

“Boats will be competing for top honours in several categories, with amazing prizes up for grabs: Best Overall Boat [first place] – $1,500 Belco Gift Voucher; People’s Choice [second place] – $1,000 PW Marine Gift Voucher; Best Traditional Christmas Message [third place] – $500 Rubis Gift Voucher.

“Additional trophies will be awarded for Best Community Message, Most Original, Most Humorous, and Children’s Choice.

“We are thrilled to bring this much-loved family tradition back to Hamilton,” said Lorna Hayward, the City’s senior events coordinator.

“The sight of the harbour aglow with thousands of festive lights is truly magical, creating a holiday atmosphere that people of all ages can enjoy.

“Bring your chairs, your holiday spirit, and your friends and family for a night to remember!

“We are really encouraging boat owners to take part and keep this magical Christmas tradition alive.”

Tanya Bule, the HSBC head of wealth and personal banking, said: “HSBC is proud to partner with the City of Hamilton to bring this festive favourite event back to Hamilton.

“The City Christmas Boat Parade has always been a highlight of the holiday calendar, getting everyone in the Christmas spirit, and we are delighted to sponsor it for 2024.”
