Toya Anderson Earns Northshore Scholarship

Northshore Medical awarded Bermudian Toya Anderson a $40,000 scholarship to pursue a Nursing Degree in the UK.

A spokesperson said, “Northshore Medical & Aesthetics Center [NMAC], Bermuda’s premier healthcare facility, is proud to announce that Bermudian student Toya Anderson has been awarded a $40,000 scholarship grant to pursue her Nursing Degree in the United Kingdom. The scholarship grant, paid in $10,000 annual increments over four years, will support Toya as she works toward her degree, after which she will return to Bermuda to join the workforce at NMAC, helping to strengthen local healthcare with her newfound skills and expertise.

“This significant scholarship is a testament to NMAC’s unwavering commitment to empowering Bermudian students and fostering the next generation of healthcare professionals. For over 10 years, NMAC has been giving back to the community through its scholarship and career advancement programs, helping countless local students achieve their dreams of working in the medical field. Through hands-on experience, mentorship, and financial support, NMAC ensures that qualified Bermudians have access to valuable opportunities that pave the way for successful healthcare careers.”

Dr. Kyjuan Brown, Medical Director at NMAC, is passionate about ensuring that Bermuda’s healthcare system is led by qualified Bermudians. His vision is to create a pipeline of local talent that not only strengthens the medical community but also provides students with the skills and experiences necessary to thrive. “We are proud to invest in our local students and advance the medical community,” said Dr. Brown. “Through our NMAC University Program, we have seen first-hand the needs of students requiring financial aid and hands-on experience. Our program offers both, providing them with the foundation to grow and succeed. This is my way of ensuring that our workforce is serviced by Bermudians.”

The spokesperson said, “NMAC’s scholarship program has touched the lives of numerous Bermudian students, helping them gain hands-on experience, career advancement opportunities, and access to financial aid that they might not have had elsewhere. Many of these students have gone on to thrive in various fields of healthcare, bringing their expertise back to Bermuda to improve the island’s medical services.

“Since joining NMAC in 2022, Toya Anderson has been an integral part of the NMAC family. Serving as the Acting Team Lead Medical Assistant, Toya has demonstrated exceptional dedication, professionalism, and a strong work ethic that has greatly benefited both her colleagues and patients. Her passion for healthcare and her commitment to excellence have made her a valued member of the team, and her scholarship marks the next step in her journey toward fulfilling her aspirations.

“An NMAC HR representative expressed their admiration for Ms Anderson’s contributions, “As Toya embarks on this exciting new chapter to pursue her education, we celebrate her achievements and her hard work. She has been an exceptional team member, and we are confident that she will continue to excel in her studies. Ms Anderson herself expressed gratitude for the support she has received from NMAC and its leadership team. “I am deeply honored to have been mentored by Dr. Brown, whose unwavering belief in me from the very beginning has been an incredible source of motivation,” said Ms Anderson. “His guidance has inspired me to pursue my goals with confidence, and it is a privilege to now serve as a Medical Assistant Team Lead under his leadership.”

Ms Anderson also acknowledged the invaluable mentorship of Dr. Paula Estwick and Dr. Fermin Gonzalez, who have played a pivotal role in her development as a healthcare professional. “I am equally grateful for the mentorship of Dr. Estwick and Dr. Gonzalez, who have broadened my perspective and equipped me with a diverse set of skills from various areas of the medical field. Their collective wisdom has shaped me into a well-rounded professional, and I am thankful for the opportunities and trust they have placed in me.”
