Photos & Video: Car Overboard On Harbour Road
[Updated] A car can be seen crashed overboard in the Harbour Road area this morning [Sept 17]. Further details are limited at this time, however we will update as able.
Update 6.45pm: A police spokesperson said, “Around 10:15pm Sunday, 15th September 2024, police officers responded to a reported single vehicle collision along Harbour Road in Paget.
“It appears that a white car being driven in the westbound lane of Harbour Road went across the road and through a wall, ending up overboard.
“The vehicle was located unoccupied and completely submerged, in an area of Hamilton harbour between Valley Road and Highwood Lane.
“The driver, understood to be a 37-year-old Hamilton parish man, was later located and transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance, with non-life threatening injuries.
“Any witnesses or members of the public with details about this collision, that have not already come forward, are encouraged to call 211, share relevant information through the Bermuda Police Service community reporting portal https://portal.police.bm, or speak with a police officer they know.”
Proper road crash barriers would have more than likely kept that car on the road.
The replacement of a bent steel steel crash barrier would be a whole lot cheaper and take far less time than rebuilding that wall…again.
Sensible and sober driving would probably have prevented that!
I have driven Harbour Road many times, even a few times when I probably should not have, without going overboard.
You seem to have the answer to every circumstance.
Explain why the vehicle went through wall and into the harbor.
????????
Cant park there
“Cant park there”
Thank you for that. It made me smile.
Good thing it is not an electric car. Most likely would burst into flames at some point after being removed from salt water.
