UCAN Launches To Offer University Support
The University and College Application Network [UCAN] is “offering expert university guidance and application support to students in Bermuda.”
A spokesperson said, “The University and College Application Network is proud to announce its official launch, offering expert university guidance and application support to students in Bermuda.
“Co-founded by seasoned educators and guidance counselors Jon Beard and Nicole Chichon, UCAN aims to fill a crucial gap in personalized university application support for students aspiring to study in the UK, US, and Canada.
“With decades of experience in education and university counseling, Jon and Nicole have a proven track record of helping students achieve success in higher education. Leveraging their extensive network of university contacts, they offer tailored guidance throughout the complex application process, including selecting the right institutions, completing application forms, preparing personal statements, and exploring scholarship opportunities.”
Mr. Beard said, “We are not in any way criticizing the job that school university counsellors are doing, but are providing that additional help that many students [and their parents] need in a tailored one-on-one counselling program.”
The spokesperson said, “An important additional service from UCAN is mentoring students once they are at university. UCAN’s services go beyond university admission, offering continuous mentorship and guidance to help students navigate the academic and social challenges of university life. This includes virtual counseling sessions, pre-departure meetings, and regular check-ins throughout their first year and beyond.”
Ms. Chichon said, “Our commitment doesn’t end once a student receives their acceptance letter; we are here to support them throughout their entire university journey, ensuring they have the tools to thrive both academically and personally.”
