Column: Bean On Community, Issues & More
[Opinion column written by Marc Bean]
Greetings, Constituents of C-36.
From speaking to many of you, it is clear that our community is dissatisfied with the direction of our country. You deserve better, and as you think about your vote, ask yourself—what will happen to our country if we continue along this current path?
Our team, which includes young people and elders from within the community, has already begun addressing some of your concerns. We’ve worked on small but impactful projects, such as the drainage issues in the Cambridge area and installing two safety mirrors—one at Loyalty Estate and another at the junction of Tween Walls and Cambridge Road. We recognize that there’s more work to be done, and we’re ready to continue making improvements.
This willingness to serve reflects not just our commitment to addressing local issues, but also our capacity to bring about meaningful change on a national and international level. The question is not simply about who will represent C-36, but who has the experience and vision to influence and create lasting change for our country.
We understand that some of you may feel undecided or disillusioned with politics, but we are the only option with the experience, know-how, and genuine connection to everyone in this community, and this is what the country requires. In this moment, you have the power to send a message on behalf of the rest of the island—a message that says, enough is enough. Together, we can fight for the change that C-36 and Bermuda truly need.
We bring both the heart, and the experience needed to shift the direction of this country. We’ve faced political challenges head-on, learning from the past and growing through self-discipline, meditation, and prayer. Now, we stand before you as the strongest alternative to the status quo, and we are prepared to hold the government to account. Our candidacy represents not just a chance for C-36 but an opportunity to improve governance across the entire island.
We are deeply grateful for the genuine support you’ve shown our team on the doorsteps—whether through encouragement or constructive criticism. The insight and wisdom you’ve shared will help guide us as we push for the necessary change, not the clichéd promises you’ve heard before. This is real, and you know who is capable of delivering the vision to move our country forward.
Thank you for the support you all have shown our team.
Appreci-love you all, Marc Bean.

EAST COAST DOCK WORKERS STRIKE .
The first week of October 2024 in the USA starts the beginnings of the largest East coast shipping Labor strike ever conceived by those wanting a better life and working conditions.
On the East Coast of the USA. shipping docks so far as, will come to a stand still as some ships are accumulating in short order at acchor .
The union demands may appear to be unreasonable too many as in their oppinion , but not in theirs.
Apparently , this strike action will cost the USA billions , as it is claimed that the country does not have the funds.
The spin off, will effect Bermuda economy on a temporary basis, and undoubtably affect shortages in some areas .
This is not the time to be complacent as food being the number one on the short list.
However , there is no need to panic, as prudence is always the better option.
We have to take care of our Hospitals and our rest homes first.
Air transport for basic foods may partially solve the problem, never- the – less certain items may cost more .
Aparently medical requirements we hope could be be flown in , however people should request an advance from their doctors if absolutely nessesary .
There is no telling how long this strike will last , be assured that those who are participating in the action, mean business ,as it appears that the talking is over.
In sympathy, we can only hope that our dock worker will maintane restraint.
Have no fear, our Government has $25 mill on the shelf
“Have no fear, our Government has $25 mill on the shelf”
Our Government has nearly $4 Billion in current account debt.
Our Government has in excess of $6 Billion in unfunded pension liabilities.
Our Government has “contingency plans … in place to maintain the steady flow of goods to Bermuda”.
” TO BE FORE WARNED IS TO BE FORE ARMED”.
No body can forecast the future .
We can not forcast when the walk out of the dock workers issues will come to a satisfactory conclusion.
Nothing is promised !
We also can not forecast how big or strong or and when the next Hurricane could come to our back door.
Nothing is Promised !
Over the years I have seen far to many Hurricans, some , not all were direct hits, with a many distant misses.
90 MPH was considered big back then .
We need to always face the pain and insecurity of reality.
140 MPH is devastating . That is unthinkable the horror those unfortunate people went through when that thing destroyed their homes.
We must never be complacent.
I am not crying Wolfe here !
Hope for the best and always prepare for the worst.
