On Saturday, September 28, at Pier 6 Complex, Family Centre’s guests were treated to a magical evening inspired by A Thousand and One Arabian Nights.

A spokesperson said, “As promised by the organizers, the atmosphere was festive, and guests felt transported to a time of magic lamps, mythical genies, and the rich colours and culture of the Middle East, as told through the well-loved tale of Aladdin.

“Upon arrival, guests were given their passport and boarding pass, along with a tote bag to shop at the marketplace and gold coins to enjoy complimentary drinks at Gosling’s Courtesy Bar. DJ Rusty G provided lively music, while MC Patrina ‘Power Girl’ O’Connor-Paynter kept the energy high. Guests also enjoyed an impressive belly dancing performance by Cirqle Circus.

“As the night unfolded, attendees were seated at candle-lit tables adorned with jewel-toned, crushed velvet tablecloths, and beaded Moroccan chandeliers that cast an enchanting glow over the dining area, making it feel like a Sultan’s palace. The cultural delicacies served during the evening included Lamb Kofta, Falafel, Chicken Shash Lik, Baked Mahi Mahi, and Egyptian Koshari. For dessert, guests enjoyed Baklava, Tiramisu, and fresh fruit. A feast for the most discerning palate. The grand finale of the evening was a mesmerizing fire dance that captivated the entire audience. Guests left the event feeling they had experienced A Thousand and One Arabian Nights.

According to Family Centre organizers, Thania Redman and Hannah Collins de la Cruz, creating an enchanted evening was a labour of love. Thania Redman, Family Centre’s Relationship Development Director, remarked, “The concept was the easy part for Hannah and I. However, transforming the Pier Six venue was a challenge, and we are incredibly grateful to Donna Lindo at Class Act Design and Eugene Dean of Spanish Town Entertainment, who brought our vision to life. They truly knocked it out of the park! The food, wines, signature cocktails, and entertainment were equally well-received, and we couldn’t be happier with the results.”

Hannah Collins de la Cruz, Family Centre’s Fund Development Specialist, added, “Many attendees embraced the theme and dressed accordingly, which added to the overall fun of the evening. Our amazing volunteers ensured that everyone had a wonderful experience. Special thanks to our PwC Volunteers who made sure every dollar raised on the night was accounted for!”

A spokesperson added, “While it was a fantastic night, the primary goal of the event was to raise essential funds for Family Centre, a Bermuda registered charity #378. The funds raised during the event will enable the charity to continue offering free therapeutic counselling services and community programmes to vulnerable children, teens, and families across Bermuda.

“It is largely thanks to our sponsors that Family Centre is able to host such a special evening and raise the critical funds we need,” said Thania Redman. “We know that our sponsors have a choice in who they will and can support due to budget and other commitments. We are immeasurably grateful for them choosing Family Centre and vulnerable children and families in Bermuda to support in this way.”

A spokesperson added, “Family Centre would like to extend its gratitude to everyone who made the night possible:

  • Platinum Sponsor: The Elisabeth and Anne Kast Charitable Trust
