Goodchild & Howard Defeat Chicago State
Koa Goodchild and her Howard University women’s soccer teammates extended its win streak with a 2 – 0 victory over Chicago State.
The conference matchup moved Howard to 3-4-4 [2-1 NEC] on the season while Chicago State fell 0-9 [0-3 NEC].
A scoreless first half saw 12 shots, five of which came from Howard, who kicked it into high gear in the second half by getting off 11 shots while holding Chicago State to three.
Howard’s attempts proved fruitful in the 52nd minute when a free kick taken by Laila Cowsette was chipped ahead of a waiting Mimi Richards, who took a shot just high of the Chicago State goalkeeper.
Howard took advantage of another well-placed free kick by Cowsette 11 minutes later. Sailing into the scrummage, the ball fell to Zoe Moore before Mia Young was able to get a foot on it to place it in the net.
