The Bermuda Junior Badminton Tournament was held on Saturday [Oct 12].
A spokesperson said, “Bermuda Junior Badminton organised the first ever national tournament to encourage players across the island to compete in badminton and grow the popularity of the sport.
“The 2 day tournament was held at Somersfield Academy and was organised by Emma Moran-Lee who coaches the junior players alongside Aaron Simmons.
“80 players across the island participated in the 8 different tournaments, U12, U14, U16 and U18 both boys and girls categories.
Singles
- U12 boys singles champion Hugo Adams, runner up Jahkari Burgess-Samuels, 3rd place James Casling-Hall.
- U12 girls singles champion Emma Tothong, runner up Freida Valli, 3rd place Hanako Kitade.
- U14 boys singles champion Michael Mohipp, runner up JitHom Liew, 3rd place Thomas McBain
- U14 girls singles champion Leilani Carpol, runner up Sienna Harper, 3rd place Aniah Tucker

“Thank you to the Bermuda Badminton Association who supplied the trophies and shuttles for the weekend and to the National Island Games Badminton Team assisted by scoring and guiding our younger players on the day. Butterfield and Vallis and the Bermuda General Agency kindly donated a snack pack for our players to keep them energised throughout the tournament thank you for keeping the players game ready.
