Registration Open For Mirrors’ Field Of Learning
Registration is now open for Term 1 at The Mirrors Programme’s Field of Learning.
A spokesperson said, “The Mirrors Programme is excited to announce that registration is open for Term 1 of the Field of Learning Garden Club. Open to students ages 11-18, the programme runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00 PM until sunset, beginning October 15th and ending December 12th. Students will earn community service or co-curricular hours and have the flexibility to choose which dates they participate.
“Our aim is to empower students with practical gardening skills while teaching the importance of sustainability and community service,” said Kimberley Jackson, Programme Manager of The Mirrors Programme.
“In addition to learning valuable skills, students will have the opportunity to donate harvested produce to seniors and families in need. This gives them a meaningful way to contribute to their community and reinforces the Mirrors Programme’s commitment to leadership and social responsibility.”
Nelson C. Bascome III, Lead Gardener at The Mirrors Programme shared, “Gardening is therapeutic for the students, it allows them to connect with nature while learning patience and responsibility. It sparks a sense of accomplishment in them as they see the results of their hard work, and it encourages teamwork, focus, and a deeper understanding of the environment and their role within it.”
Minister of Youth, Social Development and Seniors Tinée Furbert added, “The Mirrors Programme’s Field of Learning Garden Club is an opportunity for our youth to not only connect with nature but to nurture their own potential through meaningful service. I encourage students to get involved and experience the impact it will have on their lives and their community.”
