WindReach Celebrates 25 Years With Gala
WindReach celebrated the 25th anniversary of its purpose-built activity center in Warwick with a gala dinner and dance at The Pier 6 Complex in Hamilton on Saturday evening.
A spokesperson said, “The large crowd, including donors, supporters, board members, past and present staff and participants were treated to a four-course dinner followed by an evening of dancing to Bermuda’s Working Title.”
Welcoming the crowd, WindReach Chairman Stewart Ritchie paid tribute to WindReach founder Alexander J. [Sandy] Mitchell stating: “It was Sandy’s dream to create the fully accessible property in Warwick to cater for those with diverse support needs and provide them with meaningful therapeutic activity.
“Sandy had celebral palsy but refused to view it as a disability and his positive “of course we can” attitude still permeates everything that we do at WindReach today. I know Sandy would be very proud of the contribution WindReach and its wonderful staff – past and present – have made to this community.
“The work we do at WindReach is in no small part due to the wonderful support we receive from our donors and supporters.”
The spokesperson said, “The event was supported by Fortitude Re as the event’s title sponsors, Everen, L&F Indemnity, EY as well as long standing donors and volunteers, Dudley & Debbie Cottingham and Kevin & Jennie-Lee O’Donnell.
“WindReach, which exists to enrich the quality of life for individuals with diverse support needs, opened its doors on October 1, 1999. WindReach’s programming includes Life Skills, Environmental Education, Therapeutic Riding and its Adult Day Programme.
