AG Chambers Hosts Young Attorneys Session
The Attorney General’s Chambers recently hosted a Continued Legal Education session for young attorneys, providing insights into the Civil Advisory and Legislative Drafting sections within the Chambers.
A Government spokesperson said, “The event, led by the Solicitor General, Shakira Dill- Francois and Chief Parliamentary Counsel, Nalini Salick, alongside their teams, aimed to offer attendees a comprehensive understanding of the roles, responsibilities, and daily operations in the Chambers.
“The Solicitor General presented an overview of Mutual Legal Assistance, outlining its significance and the responsibilities associated with this critical area of law. Janae Nesbitt shared her expertise in debt collection.
“At the same time, Eugene Johnston discussed the distinctions and unique contributions of legal professionals in both the private and public sectors, emphasising the public sector’s essential role in societal governance.
“The session also covered practical insights into the Ministry’s Pupillage program, presented by Ashley Fubler, who shared the valuable experiences available to young attorneys in the Civil Advisory section, the Department of Public Prosecutions Office, Legal Aid, and Legislative Drafting departments.
“Chief Parliamentary Counsel Nalini Salick and Lovette Tannock provided an overview of the Legislative Drafting department, stressing the importance of clear and effective legislation in the functioning of the legal system.
“The Attorney General’s Chambers is dedicated to fostering the growth of young attorneys through educational programmes and hands-on experience, ensuring a well-rounded foundation in civil and legislative law.
“This session marks another step in that commitment, equipping the next generation of legal professionals with essential knowledge and practical insights.”
