City Welcomes Azores President Bolieiro
The City of Hamilton welcomed President of the Azores José Manuel Bolieiro for a special visit today.
A spokesperson said, “Today, the City of Hamilton was honored by an impromptu visit from His Excellency José Manuel Bolieiro, President of the Azores, as he joined Bermuda in celebrating the 175th anniversary of the first Portuguese immigrants arriving on the island. This milestone commemorates the enduring contributions of the Portuguese community to Bermuda’s cultural, social, and economic landscape.
“During his visit, President Bolieiro engaged in a meaningful dialogue with City CEO Dwayne Caines, reflecting on the lasting legacy and impact of the Portuguese community on the City of Hamilton and the island as a whole. Mr. Caines extended warm greetings on behalf of the Mayor, the Right Worshipful Charles Gosling, and the City Councilors, underscoring the profound respect and admiration Bermuda holds for the Portuguese heritage embedded in its society.
