President of the Azores José Manuel Bolieiro arrived in Bermuda today [Nov 2] to help celebrate the 175th anniversary of the first arrival of Portuguese immigrants to Bermuda.
A spokesperson previously said, “The ’175th Portuguese Commemorations Committee’ wishes to let the public know that the President of the Azores, José Manuel Bolieiro, will be visiting Bermuda to help celebrate the 175th Anniversary of the first arrival of Portuguese emigrants to Bermuda.
“The highlight of his weekend will be a Cocktail Reception and Dinner where the President will be the guest of honour. This will take place on Saturday, 2 November 2024 at the Grotto Bay Beach Resort, starting at 6:30 pm.
“The event will also feature a musical performance by Jessica Amaro, a popular Portuguese-Canadian entertainer, together with performances from the Casa dos Açores Children’s Folklore Group, Gombey Evolution Troupe and the Vasco da Gama Club Folklore Group.”
I see a bunch of suckrocks all jockeying for position with the Portuguese community, including suckrocks from governments past. Must be an election soon!
