Royal Bermuda Regiment To Host Open Day
The Royal Bermuda Regiment will host an open day on November 30, offering residents a chance to experience military life and observe training.
A spokesperson said, “An open day this weekend will allow residents to sample life as a soldier and learn more about the fulfilling opportunities offered by the Royal Bermuda Regiment.
“Attendees will have the chance to witness a dynamic, battalion-wide training exercise taking place at multiple locations across the island.
“The event on November 30, 2024, is designed to help guests gain a deeper understanding of the Regiment and its operations, all in a relaxed, no-pressure environment.
“The open day is a chance for people to take a look at who we are, what we do, and where the Royal Bermuda Regiment can take them—without any sense of pressure or obligation. It’s an informal event that offers plenty of opportunities for anyone interested to ask questions and, if they wish, to consider further whether the Regiment might be a good fit for them.
“Activities will include an introduction to the RBR and its history, a tour of Warwick Camp, and a visit to the Coast Guard base in Sandys.
“The open day coincides with a multi-phase battalion exercise designed to prepare troops ahead of their annual overseas training next spring. Soldiers will take part in internal security and urban operations drills, including patrols, vehicle checkpoints, communications procedures, and public order scenarios.
“Guests will have the unique opportunity to observe part of this training, providing a first-hand look at the teamwork, skills, and dedication involved in Regiment service. Attendees are encouraged to interact with soldiers and officers to learn more about the benefits and opportunities of serving in the RBR.
“While the event is geared towards people aged 18 to 32, anyone aged up to 52 can enlist and is welcome to attend. Members of the Regiment are mostly reservists drawn from across Bermuda’s communities, prepared to serve the needs of the island in both routine and emergency situations.
“Adults who are legally resident in Bermuda are encouraged to attend the open day, which runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lunch will be provided.
“Don’t miss this chance to discover where the Royal Bermuda Regiment can take you! For more information or to register, call 238-1045 or email rbr.recruiting@gov.bm.”
