Football: Bermuda Earn Victory Over Antigua

The Bermuda national football team claimed a 2-1 win over Antigua and Barbuda in the Concacaf Nations League in Dominican Republic yesterday [November 16].

Bermuda took an early lead through an Antigua own goal, and Reggie Lambe doubled Bermuda’s lead in the 48th minute.

The Concacaf match report said, “Bermuda earned a 2-1 win over Antigua and Barbuda to stay in contention for the top spot in the group. Bermuda is in second place in Group D with 12 points, three behind leaders Dominican Republic.

“The scoring started in the 8’ with an own goal as defender Zafique Drew tried to clear he ball off his line and knocked it into his net. Bermuda extended the lead in the 48’ when Reggie Lambe scored off the volley. Antigua and Barbuda tried to spark a rally as Daryl Massicot curled in a beautiful shot in the 69’ to cut the deficit by one.

“Bermuda’s final match will be against the Dominican Republic on Tuesday as they battle for that top spot. Antigua and Barbuda will face Dominica as both teams try to avoid relegation.”
