Khano Smith’s Team Win First Trophy
Khano Smith’s Rhode Island have won their first trophy after claiming the United Soccer League [USL] Eastern Conference title yesterday [November 16].
Rhode Island, in their inaugural season, defeated Charleston Battery 2-1 in the Eastern Conference final thanks to goals from Karifa Yao and Noah Fuson.
Juan Torres scored for the Battery.
Smith’s side will meet the Switchbacks FC in Colorado Springs in the USL Championship final on Saturday [November 23].
A former New England Revolution winger, Smith was appointed as head coach and general manager of Rhode Island in March last year.
