ABIC Board Appoints Six New Directors
The Association of Bermuda International Companies [ABIC] has appointed Noel Pearman, Paul Simons, Christian Luthi, Jessica Cardoso, Colm Singleton, and Chris Maiato to its board of directors.
A spokesperson said, “The Association of Bermuda International Companies [ABIC] has made six appointments to its board of directors.
“The new directors are:
- Noel Pearman, Chief Underwriting Officer, Bermuda, AXA XL: Noel has more than 20 years’ insurance industry experience. In addition to his responsibilities at AXA XL, Noel co-chairs the Association for Corporate Racial Equity [ACRE] which works to advance racial equity in Bermuda’s international business sector. He is also a past recipient of an ABIC Education Award.
- Paul Simons, Bermuda CEO, Convex Group: Paul has more than 30 years’ experience in the Bermuda reinsurance industry, with Mid Ocean Re, XL Group and AXA XL, before he joined Convex Group in December 2022. He has also been active in many educational initiatives and is a past Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Bermuda Foundation for Insurance Studies.
- Christian Luthi, Chair, Conyers: Christian is Director in the Conyers’ Bermuda Disputes Resolution practice, as well as serving as Chair of the firm. His practice encompasses a wide range of areas including company law, particularly share valuation and appraisal matters, shareholder disputes, insolvency and restructuring matters, insurance, and other commercial matters. Christian has been recognised as an Eminent Practitioner in the Chambers Global Guide 2024, and is ranked Tier 1 The Legal 500.
- Jessica Cardoso, Head of Office, Markel Bermuda: Jessica has led Markel’s Bermuda office since November 2022. She has more than 20 years’ experience underwriting Errors and Omissions, Cyber, Management Liability, Employment Practices, and Wage and Hour Liability insurance. Prior to joining Markel in 2018, she served in underwriting roles at Aspen and Allied World.
- Colm Singleton, Head of Bermuda Office, Allied World: Colm has led Allied World’s Bermuda office since 2019, and also serves as Head of Bermuda and Global Markets Claims. Prior to joining Allied World in December 2008, he worked as an associate specialising in Dispute Resolution at global law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.
- Chris Maiato, Principal, EY Bermuda: Chris is Regional Consulting Leader for the EY Region of the Bahamas, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands and Cayman Islands. He has over 20 years’ industry experience, serving clients in various industry sectors with a strong focus on the financial services and government sectors. He leads EY’s regional innovation and FinTech strategy, and engages with clients on developing their digital strategy.
“Stepping down from the board are Philip Vandoninck, Vanessa Hardy Pickering, Catherine Duffy, Tom Hulst, Christopher Garrod and Robert Moncrieff.
“Directors continuing to serve on ABIC’s board in 2025 are: Christian Dunleavy [Chair], Patrick Tannock [Past Chair], Douglas Mello [Vice Chair], Kirsten Beasley [Vice Chair], Allan Pelvang [Vice Chair], Michelle Seymour Smith [Vice Chair], Tawana Tannock [Vice Chair], Kevin Insley [Treasurer], Philip Barnes, Roy Fellowes, Claude Lefebvre, Sylvia Olivera, Susan Pateras, Christopher Reeves, Marisa Savage, Laura Taylor, Louise Twiss West, Chantal Cardinez, Dominique Richardson, Travis Trott, LaMel Burch, Robert Foskey, Michael Walsh and John Hele.”
