Schools Named For Great Bermuda Carol-Off

More than 700 students from approximately 20 schools will compete in the second annual Great Bermuda Carol-Off at LF Wade International Airport.

The three-day event, which starts tomorrow [December 2], will gather primary and secondary schools by the airport’s Christmas tree as they sing for a chance to win $15,000 in prizes to support local music programmes.

The schools taking part tomorrow are Paget Primary and Victor Scott Primary, meanwhile, on Wednesday the schools in action will be Francis Patton, Prospect Primary, Elliot Primary, Dalton E Tucker, Northlands Primary, Bermuda Institute [Middle], Saltus Grammar [Junior], and Gilbert Institute.

On Thursday, the schools showcasing their singing talents will be Bermuda High School, Saltus Grammar [Senior], West End Primary, Somerset Primary, Port Royal Primary, West Pembroke Primary, Berkeley Institute, St David’s Primary, East End Primary, and Somersfield Academy.

The schools will compete for the titles of Best Primary School Choir and Best Secondary School Choir, each earning $5,000 for their music programmes.

The runners-up in each category will receive $2,000 each. There will also be a People’s Choice Award, featuring online and in-person voting, with the winner receiving $1,200.

Performances will be judged by a panel of three experts, led by chief judge Dale Butler, who will evaluate choirs based on their harmonic skill, creativity, professionalism, and Christmas spirit.
