Advisory: Temporary Bus Detours This Weekend

The Department of Public Transportation advises the public of temporary bus detours this weekend due to the Bermuda Triangle Challenge Race weekend.

A Government spokesperson said, “The Department of Public Transportation [DPT] wishes to advise the public of temporary bus detours scheduled due to the 2025 Bermuda Triangle Challenge Race weekend. The detours will occur on the following dates:

  • Friday, January 17th, 2025: 5:00 PM – 11:00 PM
  • Saturday, January 18th, 2025: 8:30 AM – 11:00 AM
  • Sunday, January 19th, 2025: 7:45 AM – 11:00 AM

“These detours are necessary to accommodate road closures and ensure the safety of race participants and the general public.

Detour Details

“Friday, January 17th: Approximately 5:00 PM – 11:00 PM

“Due to the closure of Front Street:

  • “Inbound Route 1, 2, 3, 7, and 8 buses will detour via Spurling Hill, turn right onto Court Street, and then left onto Victoria Street to reach the Central Terminal.

“Saturday, January 18th: Approximately 8:30 AM – 11:00 AM

  • “Route 3 inbound buses will not service Middle Road beyond the intersection with Verdmont Road.
  • “Routes 10 and 11 inbound buses will not service North Shore Road beyond Flatts Junction or Palmetto Road.
    All inbound Route 3, 10, and 11 buses will detour via Flatts Hill, left onto Verdmont Road, Collectors Hill, right onto South Road, right onto Point Finger Road, and then right onto Crow Lane continuing to Hamilton.
  • “Outbound Route 3 buses will detour via Spurling Hill, left onto Point Finger Road, left onto South Road, rejoining their normal route at Knapton Hill.
  • “Outbound Routes 10 and 11 will operate as usual.

“Sunday, January 19th: Approximately 7:45 AM – 11:00 AM

  • “The 7:45 AM Route 8 inbound bus will not service Front Street, instead detouring via Spurling Hill, right onto Court Street, and left onto Victoria Street to reach the Central Terminal.
  • “All other bus routes will operate on their normal routes, though minor race-related delays may occur.

“The DPT appreciates the public’s understanding and cooperation during these temporary changes. Travelers are encouraged to plan their journeys accordingly to avoid inconvenience.”
