Bermuda Police Make 47 Arrests Over Holiday
The Bermuda Police Service responded to 250 calls and made 47 arrests between December 24, 2024, and January 2, 2025.
A spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Police Service [BPS] kept our community safe during the festive season. Between December 24, 2024, to January 2, 2025, we responded to around 250 calls for service.
“With those calls for service our officers worked proactively to ensure everyone’s safety. We conducted laser speed checks, roadside sobriety tests, and 315f stops. Our officers engaged with 593 vehicles and their occupants.”
“We made 47 arrests for various offences:
- 9 for impaired driving [6 from sobriety checkpoints]
- 21 for offences like theft, assault, and drug-related crimes
- 17 for outstanding warrants
Commissioner of Police Darrin Simons said, “We’re grateful for a relatively peaceful holiday period. Thank you to our community for your cooperation and support. We wish everyone a prosperous and safe New Year.”
The spokesperson said, “The BPS remains committed to Making Bermuda Safer. We appreciate the trust you place in us. Our officers will continue to serve with honesty, integrity, professionalism, and compassion.
“Stay safe, Bermuda. Together, we can build a stronger, safer community for 2025 and beyond.”
When thing go wrong we should alway look to the the man in charge for a solution.
i wonder if we have the wrong person stearing the ship i also wonder if he realizes that prevension is alway better than the cure.
In celebration of new year has alway been to time for festivities however there are many who drown their sorrows with a 6 pack at no less than 6 planed sobriety check points ready to do business..
2024 has been tough on our people while other look the other way now we see 47 people with their name on the police blotter.
