Heritage Museum Seeks Strategic Planning Team
The Bermuda Heritage Museum is “taking a strategic direction by recruiting key members to refocus and provide a springboard for future success.”
Quinell Francis, spokesperson for strategic planning, states, “We have seen the value of having the Heritage Museum in our community. The museum’s collection is unique and tells a well-rounded story of Bermuda. However, the curation of exhibitions and day-to-day administration need additional support as the founders, who have fully served the community, are now preparing for retirement. This is an ideal time to rejuvenate the museum and set it on a path for long-term success, attracting a diverse set of visitors— whether they come to Bermuda for leisure or wish to learn about the wide range of cultures Bermuda formally represents, from British to African to Portuguese while they reside on the island.”
The spokesperson said, “Bermuda’s rich history is not merely a collection of events but a living, evolving story that speaks to the strength, creativity, and spirit of our people. From the traditions of Cup Match to the craftsmanship that shaped the Town of St. George and Bermuda as a whole, our heritage reflects the diverse influences that have made this island unique. To ensure that these stories continue to resonate with future generations, we need individuals committed to preserving and sharing Bermuda’s legacy.”
Ms. Francis adds, “The Bermuda Heritage Museum is reaching out to individuals across the community to join us in this important mission. Whether you’re a professional with expertise in administration, finance, marketing, or heritage studies, or simply someone with a passion for preserving Bermuda’s story, we invite you to become part of an effort that will help shape the future of our cultural institution.”
Why Your Involvement Matters
The spokesperson said, “The role you play today will have a lasting impact on Bermuda’s future. The museum is looking for individuals who can offer their knowledge, time, and energy to help strengthen our foundation. Here’s how you can contribute:
- Business Administration: Building operational frameworks to ensure the museum’s ongoing success.
- Finance: Securing the resources needed to support the museum’s growth and long-term sustainability.
- Marketing & Community Engagement: Amplifying the voices and stories of Bermuda to global audiences.
- Heritage & Museum Studies: Ensuring the authenticity and relevance of our cultural narrative.
“Imagine helping tell the story behind Bermuda’s iconic Cod Fish Breakfast—a testament to resilience, community, and cultural blending. Bermuda’s 400-year story, shaped by influences from the UK, USA, Canada, Portugal, Ghana, and Angola, includes legacies from Cup Match to builders, innovators, and icons. Every facet of Bermuda’s history deserves celebration and preservation.
Join Us in Shaping Bermuda’s Legacy
“This is more than a call for help—it’s an invitation to join a lasting movement that will preserve and pass on Bermuda’s story with pride. Together, we can transform the Bermuda Heritage Museum into an institution that honors our past and creates an exciting future for Bermuda’s culture.

from a detailed report from the Dept. of Culture has to be reviewed by any incoming committee because the report was an excellent guideline for the Museum’s future but it was never pursued by the operators of the Museum who were unable to start the engine because they operated like it was their baby alone.
This new initiative is critical and I salute the effort to ensure the life of the museum. If they had stated it was closing this page would be filled with demands to keep it open so now is the time to step up and show us.
We recently have read numerous comments about losing old buildings and saying Bermuda will look like Miami. So now is your chance to put your energy into preservation. I also suggest that a youth group be formed from senior high school students who get credit and a certificate for joining to gain experience so that it does not end up where it has been for the past few years..dead. …rarely opened and in need of a face lift and more.
The founders should be commended with a photo of these giants lest they be forgotten. Now the onus is on the public who always have lots of ideas BUT must join and get it done. If they do not, the museum will close and at the last minute hundreds will write saying how awful this is. Let’s see what story two says and I hope it is: they were overwhelmed with the responses received.
