The Premier stated the PLP Platform won’t be available until 6 February – that’s over 2 weeks from now! How could he possibly call an election without even having a platform? What has the PLP been doing this whole time?
The OBA platform has been available since September and you can find it at http://oba/bm/platform (in Portuguese as well!)
I know you cant be serious with this comment. LOL! Have you even looked at your worthless pamphlet of a platform!? It’s literally a pamphlet with absolutely no detail whatsoever nor does it inspire confidence in your party.
Wait till you see the absolute nonsense that the PLP come out with lol no doubt full of lies and worth less than toilet paper…but your a paid PLP troll so I’m sure you’ll defend it even though it’s bad for our country
Mr Know it all, why are you backing the PLP. The PLP have been saying inflation is ~ 2% and we ALL KNOW that is BS. US Inflation is Higher and then costs to bring things to Bermuda make prices and inlation higher.
Why do I say this? Your employers look at inflation when considering adjusting your wages. This means if your wages have been adjusted by 2% , but the cost of things has gone up 6% , you have lost 4% of your Year salary. If that is 100,000 (for ease of numbers) then you would have lost $4,000 all because of the PLP. Note they have told untruths about Inflation for a number of years. that money you lost out on adds up, yet you still vote for them.
The voters don’t really care about your oba/ubp party. If I was you I’d go help your surrogate leader write his LOSER speech for the media.
Yeah let’s get rid of this UBP/PLP party! Well said!
PLP paid “axepat” consultants ain’t finished the platform yet!!
Oh dear buttons all of a sudden you feel.thw need to bs your fan base because you called an election with no platform.
“Budget surplus”
Complete nonsense and falsehood. Burt loves throwing this buzzword around often because his gargantuan ego leads him to think people are stupid and don’t understand what he’s talking about.
He’d like for us to believe that somehow our +$3 billion public debt has miraculously vanished under the governance of the PLP.
Meanwhile we can’t even afford to pave our crumbling roads and maintain public infrastructure, schools etc. Really wonder what kind of elaborate mental gymnastics one needs to do to make that make sense LOL
These comments from someone clearly who has no clue.
Then budget surplus quite clearly is based on an annual budgeting exercise. Of which the debt is not included.
Obviously there is a distinction between annual budgeting exercises and total public debt. The key point being made is that we’re still incredibly broke as a country at the core.
Yet, Burt likes to shout from high heaven that the government has delivered a budget surplus at any given opportunity. When in reality, little (or none) of that surplus is going towards paying down the existing public debt that has ballooned in size under the same government’s frivolous spending for the lion’s share of the past 30 years.
It’s just self-congratulatory grandstanding over “results” that effectively amount to nothing.
“Obviously there is a distinction between annual budgeting exercises and total public debt.”
Yes, there is. Unfortunately, we are not allowed to know what the “total public debt” is. The “total public debt” should include our unfunded pension liabilities to retired politicians and civil servants, and that unfunded liability will run to billions of dollars in addition to our $3.75 BILLION current account debt.
You have nailed the problem. By not including expenditure a surplus is easy. For example, no allowance for payments into the sinking fund, not including amounts to repay debt; not putting aside amounts to build 2 new bridges; not putting aside money to replace Tynes Bay and the list goes on and on. Suggest you understand real finance, not Burtonomics.
….of which $81 million has been taken from another pot intended to repay debt, so there has not and will not be a balanced budget, unless Burt returns that money.
Well that partly explains one of the videos that is titled “Gov’t can’t solve all our problems”. So true when most of the problems have been caused by Gov’t, but they won’t accept it, so how could they solve it. Also no Gov’t can solve problems, which tend to be financial, as they sadly lack business experience.
Bite your tongue, Ringmaster. Whilst the PLP paid political advertisements (see YouTube for example) refer to escalating violence and rampant inflation in Bermuda being caused by our “colonial history”, the official statistics released by the PLP Government show that our retail price inflation rate is lower than that of the U.K., Canada or the U.S. and that crime rates are falling. I can post the links to those announcements if you like.
@ Joe, I stand corrected, as you must have wasted part of your life watching the video(s). I have better things to do than watch local history being rewritten!
A press conferrence every other day now from the PLP. What would happen if none of the media showed up?
