Update: Shakera Richardson [C3]

  • She will be running in C3 St. David’s against the PLP’s Lovitta Foggo [PLP] and the OBA’s Maurice Foley. Ms Foggo is the incumbent, having won the seat in the past four general elections.

Shermaine Riley-Murphy [C16]

  • Ms Riley-Murphy will be running in C16 Pembroke East Central, where the PLP’s Michael Weeks is the incumbent and the OBA’s John Seymour is running. This means that the voters of C16 will head to the polls this year, as in the 2020 election there was only one candidate in this area.

Ricardo Nesbitt [C17]

  • He will be running in C17 Pembroke Central, which is currently held by the PLP’s Jason Hayward. The OBA website currently lists Glenn Tucker as the candidate, and independent Rolfe Commissiong will also be contesting the seat. Like C16, this seat only had one candidate in the last general election.

Kelzine Thompson [21]

  • She will be running in C21 Pembroke South East, which is currently held by the PLP’s Curtis Dickinson and will also be contested by the OBA’s Sophia Tessitore.

Shalleya Codrington [36]

  • She will be running in C36 Sandys North, which is currently held by the PLP’s Rev Emily Gail Dill, who recently won the seat in a by-election which featured four candidates including FDM leader Marc Bean. The OBA’s Carl Neblett is also running in this constituency.

The FDM is expected to unveil additional candidates this week

  1. A nice group says:

They would do well in high school elections but they won’t make much of a dent. Tell us what you have done prior to stepping up. So far not one from the last election FDM candidates have stepped up after they told us they were committed. Reporters ssk them what Bills they be pushing for updating or introducing if not we might as well just have Santa Claus step up with a couple of free give-aways and sedate us. Substance is sadly lacking given what you have experienced I did not hear what you have been fighting for. For example when the people of St
David’s rejected the Govts decision to rename the school, did you launch a campaign to have the name changed by knocking on doors with information and listening to their concerns or just go back to playing with your toys. Substance. I’m sure the final numbers will tell you what you have to do to stand a better chance of being elected. Just one example. And if you lose don’t disappear like the last group who ran.

  2. So Marc Bean says:

Must be running against the Premier? We need some fireworks. And when the dust settles he too will disappear

  3. Hey says:

If this is what the FFM is serving up as credible candidates. This mob is doomed from the start.

  4. Hey says:

FDM = FFM Failed Forever Movement

    • Debra Tucker says:

You are entitled to your comment.
However, i wasnt going to dignify your comments with a response but I feel compelled to as these young people of the FDM are bold enough to try to make a positive difference and have exemplified their commitment to undue the miscarriage of justice that has plauged the working class people of this country As a people we should be encouraging these folk who are running in this pivotal upcoming election whether FDM, independent etc.. People are tired of being ostracized we have endured this from the current govt during the last 10 years. Try to support and encourage one another for the betterment of this country.

  5. Hilarious says:

Best wishes to everyone. I am so happy to see people step up to the challenge.

  6. BermyGuy says:

We are doomed for real. I think it is time for the UK to step in. Maybe send all politicians in? Give it a year and see how it works out?

  7. Ladeej says:

I applaud each person for being willing to stand, however imo many of the independents and this group of FDM candidates would be great community activists, not necessarily Members of Parliament.

  8. We applaud unprepared people says:

Really, and that’s why the country is in trouble. Get ready. Give us substance. Not there. They are lucky the Bda press are so kind. Ask for solutions on key problems and if they fail, will they learn up and start to work. Show us what you have done. Gina Spence was a great example working in the community. And there are others . But when we get the typical mommy don’t hurt them from some of those above you realize they are still in nursery. This is politics. Leadership of the country with major economic ,social international ,youth etc issues when you take this step. Babyize them in nursery as we do by giving every child a ribbon and telling them they are great even when they come last….no longer challenging them, then we wonder what went wrong. This is not nursery school and the final results will show them . Debra Tucker can mentor them. Let’s see if she will,or is she pontificating again?

  9. Circus says:

I suggest a National public debate whereby all candidates must debate the issues of the day and share their platforms (hopefully backed by data and research).

Honestly, I need more political candidates that hold degrees with real knowledge and experience in economics and finance who have demonstrated their knowledge and skillset in their professional lives. I need representatives who have integrity (in the open and behind closed doors) and are genuinely passionate about all sides of Bermuda. I need the future of this country to be led by individuals who will represent and unify all of our country and can make sound financial decisions for the future success of us all.

I heard a few candidates lament about closing a few public schools. Ah… I do not have the energy to explain why it is needed. Clearly, they’re not informed.

It’s great that so many have stepped up to the plate for public office, but I question motives. I need individuals who have been invested in our communities for a large portion of their lives, not for a title or a payday, but because they genuinely care to make a difference and desire to unify Bermuda.
