Video: Noelle Young Press Conference
[Updated] Independent Candidate Noelle Young — who will be running in Constituency #14 Devonshire North West — is holding a press conference this morning [Jan 16]. We will have additional coverage later on and in the meantime the live video is below.
Since the one seat system started in 2003, the PLP have won Devonshire North West in 4 General Elections and the OBA have won it once, and the seat is currently held by the PLP’s Wayne Caines.
Update 7.51pm: A PLP spokesperson said, “While the PLP has delivered solutions when Bermudians were feeling the pinch due to 40-yearhigh global inflation; others, including independents, have offered nothing concrete to the voters. Bermudians deserve more than empty promises—they deserve actionable plans. For instance, how would Ms. Young reduce energy costs? It is one thing to express goals, but voters need to know how they will be accomplished.
“The Progressive Labour Party has taken decisive steps to deliver meaningful relief to families and businesses across the country:
“1. In 2022, when fuel costs increased to record levels worldwide, the PLP froze pump prices, saving families hundreds of dollars.
“2. The PLP slashed taxes on power bills by 60% protecting consumers and small businesses from significant increases in their bills.
“3. Bermuda has been recognised globally for the Government’s investment in renewable energy sources.
“Further, the PLP’s Pre-Budget Report outlines additional plans to reduce energy taxes even more, bringing more relief for hardworking Bermudians.
“A vote for the PLP in Constituency 14 and across the country ensures that the PLP can continue cutting taxes for working people, putting more money in their pockets, and building a fairer Bermuda.”

Really good to know that you have put yourself forward for election as an Independent. I know that you are someone who cares about Bermuda and are looking for the ways you can contribute to the future of the island and because of that, I would vote for you if I was in that constituency.
I also support your call for the strengthening of ties to the UK for the benefits that could be established and nourished there.
“strengthening of ties to the UK”
Kim Smith! Bite your tongue! You know our Government hates everything British!
Yes, I do realize that, Joe Bloggs, and I think it is something that they have been continuing to promote to the detriment of the people in Bermuda. There are a lot of Bermudians over in the UK now and more and more visiting to enjoy what benefits there are and could be had.
Agreed, Kim. And every Bermudian is entitled to a British passport (although some choose not to have one).
Be careful, you would not be the first Bermudian to be threatened by those acting in the name of the PLP for asking questions or stating a contrary opinion.
It’s not just government it’s the voters. The same voters that will vote against the OBA, who you’re definitely voting for.
Where’s Rolfe? Why does it seem like he’s persona non grata at other independent rollouts ?
