Minister Furbert Tours Out Of School Program
Tinee Furbert, Minister of Youth, Social Development, and Seniors, recently toured the Out of School Programme sites in the East, Central, and West Zones, meeting with children, staff, and young adults involved in the programme, which offers engaging and educational activities during the winter break.
A Government spokesperson said, “During her visits, Minister Furbert had the opportunity to interact with the children and young volunteers supporting the programme. The energy and enthusiasm of the students, coupled with the dedication of the young adults studying in youth-focused fields, left a lasting impression.”
“This programme is not just about keeping children engaged during the holidays—it’s about nurturing their potential and fostering a sense of community,” said Minister Furbert. “I was especially inspired by the young adults who are dedicating their time to support the next generation. To those studying youth development, teaching, or related fields, know that your work matters. You are shaping lives and helping to build a brighter future for Bermuda.”
The spokesperson said, “The Out of School Programme, overseen by the Office of Youth Affairs, ran from December 23rd to January 3rd and offered activities tailored to different age groups. From the Globetrotters pilot programme for preschoolers to the Job Readiness Programme for senior school students, the initiative ensures children of all ages have access to enriching and supervised activities during the winter break.”
The Minister also praised the Office of Youth Affairs staff and volunteers, saying, “I want to thank all of you for your commitment to our young people. Your continued dedication is greatly appreciated. I also want to thank the Dellwood Middle School for allowing us to use their facilities for our central Primary and Preschool programme, making this initiative possible for students in our central locations. These partnerships and collaborations promote community spirit and allow us to cater to more children whose parents need childcare options during the winter breaks. Our ministry will continue to foster these relationships to provide more opportunities for Bermuda’s children.”
The spokesperson said, “Families interested in registering their children for upcoming programmes can contact the Office of Youth Affairs for more information: info@ospbermuda.bm.”
